Pastor shot, killed on way home from worship [Excerpts]

Two masked members of the al-Shabaab Muslim militia shot and killed a pastor in Somalia as he drove home from a worship service, according to reports.

Mogadishu pastor Ali Hussein Weheliye was killed in the attack in October, but reports of the incident didn’t come out until this week.

Experts at the missions think-tank the Joshua Project estimate Somalia is 99 percent Muslim. International Christian Concern’s Jonathan Racho agrees with that statistic and says the overwhelming numbers make it difficult to be a Christian in Somalia.

“A vast majority of Somalis are Muslims, but there are hundreds of Christians in Somalia. This pastor was the pastor of an underground church,” Racho said.

“Christians in Somalia have to go underground and they don’t give away their identities because once al-Shabaab knows someone is a Christian, that is a death sentence for that person,” he said.

Racho makes the death sentence claim because al-Shabaab is a jihadist militia with close ties to Osama bin Laden and the al-Qaida terrorist group.

Intelligence sources say most al-Shabaab fighters receive training at al-Qaida or Taliban training camps in Pakistan before being sent to Somalia for the declared anti-Christian jihad in that eastern African nation.

Racho said these facts are evidence Weheliye’s murder is not an isolated incident.

“Al-Shabaab has gone on a campaign of killing Christians. One of its official policies is to eradicate Christians from Somalia,” Racho said.

“This year alone, Pastor Ali is the fifteenth Christian to be killed in Somalia. The killing has been going on for the past several years. The church in Somalia is going through a difficult time. If this trend continues many more Christians will be killed and many will be forced to leave Somalia,” Racho explained.

The More They Know Darwin, The Less They Want Darwin-Only Indoctrination

According to an international poll released by the British Council, the majority of Americans – 60% – support teaching alternatives to evolution in the science classroom. The percentage is the same for Britons….Of course, the British media reporting this are chagrined. Britain is the birthplace of Charles Darwin and his theory of evolution, and the official-sounding British Council, the UK group behind the “Darwin Now” campaign that commissioned the Ipsos MORI poll, have spent precious resources educating the world about Darwin. Now some believe the poll shows that efforts by Darwinist organizations aren’t working.

Head of the British Council’s Darwin Now program Fern Elsdon-Baker said, “Overall these results may reflect the need for a more sophisticated approach to teaching and communicating how science works as a process.”

While Darwin’s apologists might try to explain the poll numbers as an example of ignorance influencing people’s beliefs, the numbers themselves suggest a different picture.

Across the board, most respondents from the ten countries polled thought that “other perspectives on the origins of species” “such as intelligent design and creationism” should be taught in science class*. When the poll is weighted to include only those respondents who have heard of Charles Darwin and know something about his theory of evolution, the percentage supporting alternate theories increases, from 60% to 66% in Britain and 60% to 64% in the U.S.

The correlation appears again when we consider which countries have more knowledge of Darwin’s theory. The highest numbers of those in support of alternative theories in the classroom correspond to the highest numbers of those familiar with Charles Darwin – 60% in Britain, 65% in Mexico, 61% in China, 66% in Russia, and 60% in the U.S. It appears that the more people know about Darwin’s theory, the more they want to see alternatives in science class.

A Council on American-Islamic Relations [CAIR] adviser and regular speaker at its events has suggested Islamic law permits Muslims to attack C-130 military transport planes carrying the 82nd Airborne out of Fort Bragg, NC. Radical Islamic cleric Zaid Shakir, a frequent guest speaker at CAIR events, tells his Muslim audiences: “Jihad is physically fighting the enemies of Islam to protect and advance the religion of Islam. This is jihad.” Acceptable targets of jihad, he says, include U.S. military aircraft. “Islam doesn’t permit us to hijack airplanes filled with civilian people,” Shakir once told a Muslim audience. However, “If you hijack an airplane filled with the 82nd Airborne, that’s something else.” The 82nd Airborne Division’s elite paratroopers fly out of Fort Bragg, N.C., which is part of North Carolina state Sen. Larry Shaw’s district. Shaw is CAIR’s new chairman. Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan allegedly gunned down in cold blood more than 50 of his fellow soldiers preparing to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan from Fort Hood, Texas. Eyewitnesses say before opening fire, Hasan jumped up on a desk and screamed, “Allahu akbar!” like the 9/11 hijackers. The suspect fatally shot 13, including a security guard. The death toll is actually 14 when a slain unborn child is counted. Imam Shakir also gives his blessing to the use of bombs as a weapon of jihad, as long as the explosives hit “select” targets and are not indiscriminate in their destruction. Civilians can be a legitimate target, he says, if “there’s a benefit in that,” according to “Muslim Mafia,” co-authored by former federal agent P. TV Violence against Women More Graphic, Frequent than Ever Before [Excerpts]

Violence against women on television is being shown with increasing frequency, more graphically and in ways never before seen in TV history, according to a report by a television watchdog group. The Parents Television Council’s report found that violence against women increased 120 percent between 2004 and 2009, with the most frequent type of violence being beating (29 percent), followed by credible threats of violence (18 percent), shooting (11 percent), rape (8 percent), stabbing (6 percent) and torture (2 percent). Also, such violence resulted in death 19 percent of the time. “Our new research points to a disturbing trend: by depicting violence against women with increasing frequency, or as a trivial, even humorous matter, the broadcast networks may ultimately be contributing to a desensitized atmosphere in which people view aggression and violence directed at women as normative, even acceptable,” Winter said. The report found that Fox used violence against women as punch lines in its comedies, particularly “Family Guy” and “American Dad,” thus “trivializing the gravity of the issue.”

ATHEISTS IN BUBBLELAND  [Excerpts]

Did you miss it? Last month the country celebrated national Blasphemy Day!

According to NPR.com, atheists marked Blasphemy Day last month at gatherings around the world, celebrating the freedom to denigrate and insult religion.

Activities included de-baptizing people with hair dryers and an art exhibit in Washington, D.C., which showed, among other titles, Jesus Paints His Nails, in which “an effeminate Jesus after the crucifixion [applies] polish to the nails that attach his hands to the cross.” The atheist group Center for Inquiry hosted the exhibit.

Addressing a capacity crowd at the University of Toronto, columnist Christopher Hitchens elicited enthusiastic cheers by commenting, “I think religion should be treated with ridicule, hatred and contempt, and I claim that right.” He told NPR that religion is “sinister, dangerous and ridiculous,” because it can prompt people to fly airplanes into buildings, and it promotes ignorance.

Hitchens defended atheist incivility this way: “If I said to a Protestant or Quaker or Muslim, ‘Hey, at least I respect your belief,’ I would be telling a lie.”

However, not all atheists should be painted with the same brush. Stuart Jordan, who advises the Center for Inquiry on policy issues, explain to NPR that Blasphemy Day is symptomatic of a debate among traditional atheists and “new atheists” over whether people of faith should be treated with respect or derision.

Paul Kurtz, who founded the Center for Inquiry three decades ago, was ousted in a “palace coup” last year. “I consider them atheist fundamentalists,” he says. “Merely to critically attack religious beliefs is not sufficient. It leaves a vacuum. What are you for? We know what you’re against, but what do you want to defend?”

Truly, it must be a cold day in the infernal regions if atheism can now boast its own ideological schism.

It’s as refreshing as it is uncommon to hear a scientist concede the limits of scientific understanding. But why? Why such dogmatic passion, intensity, and fervor among atheists? Why the overzealous insistence that belief in science is based in undiluted logic where belief and God is based in indefensible whimsy?

The so-called “new atheists” are really no different from any other fundamentalist ideologues. They are driven by an irrational compulsion to “prove” that they are right by asserting in the most uncompromising terms that others are wrong. But truth be told, they are haunted by the inescapable reality that ultimate certitude is beyond the reach of human beings. They have taken up permanent residence in Bubbleland, and they will fight to the death anyone who threatens their homegrown fantasy.

“Es como si (Rocky) fuese escogido, como si Jesús estuviese en él para ayudarle a ser un ejemplo vivo de Cristo”, manifiesta Stallone quien se crió en un hogar cristiano donde fue educado en la fe cristiana, pero cayó en las tentaciones del mundo tomando decisiones equivocadas.

La mayoría de sus anteriores películas de Stallone eran violentas y sangrientas; cuando su matrimonio no iba bien, se sentía seducido por todas las tentaciones de Hollywood. Pugna sobre la inclusión de “In God We Trust” continúa

WASHINGTON. El Centro de Ley y Justicia norteamericana [The American Center for Law and Justice], conocida por sus siglas en inglés ACLC, ha presentado una respuesta jurídica a una demanda que se opone a los grabados religiosos en el Centro de Visitantes del Capitolio en Washington.

En el documeto legal presentado, el ACLJ pide al Tribunal de Distrito de EE.UU. para el distrito oeste de Wisconsin, negar las afirmaciones de que el uso de “In God We Trust” como el lema nacional es una violación, de la Cláusula de Establecimiento de la Primera Enmienda.

ACLJ afirma que la cruzada de los demandantes, enfocada en la expresión religiosa en el gobierno federal, no sirve a ningún propósito que no sea un despilfarro de recursos judiciales en un momento en la historia de nuestra Nación, cuando esos recursos son necesarios en casos de amenazas reales a las libertades estadounidenses.

La fundación de libertad religiosa [Freedom From Religion Foundation], conocido por sus siglas en inglés FFRF, y que vigila los asuntos entre el estado y la religión y una asociación de ateos y agnósticos, había presentado una demanda en julio para detener la grabación de “In God We Trust” y el Juramento de lealtad a Dios en el Centro de Visitantes del Capitolio.

Durante una gira inicial del centro, antes de que se abriera en diciembre de 2008, algunos miembros del Congreso estaban molestos de que no había referencias importantes a la herencia religiosa de Estados Unidos.

A tales efectos, el congresista Dan Lungren (republicano por California) introdujo una legislación en mayo de este año dirige el arquitecto del Capitolio para grabar las dos expresiones en la entrada del centro.

A pesar de la demanda, los nuevos grabados ya se dieron a conocer a finales del pasado mes de septiembre y el lema que ahora quedó permanentemente grabado en el Centro que sirve como la puerta de entrada al edificio del Capitolio de los Estados Unidos. El congresista Mike Pence comentó que alberga la esperanza de que “este sea un recordatorio permanente visible de la fe de donde venimos y al Dios que tanto ha bendecido grandemente a nuestra nación”.

Ahora la ACLJ que representa a 44 miembros del Congreso busca que se desestime la demanda. “Nuestra posición es clara: el hecho es que el Congreso actuó de manera adecuada y coherente con la Constitución, con la inclusión del nacional y el Juramento en el Centro de Visitantes del Capitolio”, dice el breve ACLJ.

“Las palabras del lema y de la Promesa hacen eco de la convicción de los fundadores de esta nación de que nuestras libertades vienen de Dios.

9/11 Connections of Fort Hood Shooter

The Muslim U.S. Army major accused of shooting dead 13 people at Fort Hood last Thursday was a “hero” who faced a choice of betraying his nation or betraying Islam, according to a radical U.S.-born cleric whose possible links with Maj. Nidal Hasan are now under investigation.

The cleric, Anwar al-Awlaki, led a Northern Virginia mosque in 2001 which Hasan attended – along with three of the 9/11 hijackers.

Questioned but not arrested after the 9/11 attacks, al-Awlaki is now based in Yemen, from where his online lectures have been inspiring jihadists in the years since the bombings on U.S. soil.

London’s Sunday Telegraph first reported at the weekend that Hasan had attended the Dar al Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church during Awlaki’s tenure in 2001. Officials subsequently told U.S. media outlets investigators were looking into possible links between Awlaki and Hasan.

In a posting on his website Monday, Awlaki praised Hasan, calling him “a man of conscience who could not bear living the contradiction of being a Muslim and serving in an army that is fighting against his own people.”

He criticized U.S. Muslim organizations for condemning the shooting attack, calling them hypocrites and – quoting from the Koran – saying “painful punishment” awaited them.

Around the time Hasan was attending the Awlaki-run Dar al Hijrah Islamic Center, so too were three of the 9/11 hijackers: Hasan is known to have been going to the mosque in May 2001, as his mother’s funeral took place there that month; according to the 9/11 Commission report, 9/11 terrorists Nawaf al-Hazmi and Hani Hanjour started going to the mosque in early April 2001.

They and a third Saudi who also attended the mosque, Khalid al-Mihdhar, were among the five hijackers onboard American Airlines Flight 77 which took off from Dulles and was flown into the Pentagon on September 11.

Awlaki was questioned by the FBI after the attacks but information against him was not considered strong enough to support a criminal prosecution, the 9/11 Commission report said.

By the time the commission’s investigators tried to interview him in 2003, he had moved to Yemen. The commission’s attempts to arrange interviews with the help of the U.S. and Yemeni governments were unsuccessful.

The commission expressed strong suspicions about Awlaki (his name is rendered “Aulaqi” in the report), noting the “remarkable coincidence” that he had also had dealings with one of the three hijackers during his pre-Virginia posting, at a mosque in San Diego.

Take Possession of Your Land! The first thing you must do in taking possession of your land–all God has prepared for you–is to take possession of your thoughts. There is a direct correlation between the quality of your thoughts and the quality of your life. What you think determines who you are, what you are, where you go, what you acquire, where you live, whom you love, where you work, what you accomplish, what you read and so on.

James Allen wrote in his timeless classic As a Man Thinketh, “All that a man achieves and all that he fails to achieve is the direct result of his own thoughts.” If your life is going to change, you must think change. You are always only one thought away from changing your life. As Joel Osteen says, “You can live your best life now!”

Here’s the principle: You will never have more or go further or accomplish greater things than your thoughts will allow you to. Therefore, you must create an opulent thinking environment in order to create an opulent life. Your life is a reflection of your most dominant thoughts and meditations. When you make it a practice to meditate on success, you will begin to live a successful life.

Use your thoughts as an architect uses a blueprint. Think about every detail. An architect thinks not only about the rooms in a house but also about the types of windows, sizes of closets, location of electrical outlets and so on. Nothing is too insignificant. Think big and think detailed!
